MFMC Scholarships for Challenged Students
Category: Piano, Instrumental and Vocal
Age Limit: Must have reached 12th birthday, but not 19th by March 1 of the audition year
Entry fee: None (must be member of a Junior Club or pay $12.00 for Individual Junior Special Membership
Amount of Award: $250.00 (divided if more than one winner declared)
Deadline for Application: January 1
Application/Audition Requirements: Completed application, Junior Special Membership fee (if not currently member of a Junior Club), Recording with performances of two selections from contrasting style periods, letter of recommendation from teacher, tutor, or clergyman, letter from a medical doctor stating the nature and duration of handicap, must be a citizen of the United States.

Rose Zygmanski Teacher Trust Grants
Category: Continuing Education
Age Limit: 18 and over and a member of the Minnesota Federation of Music Clubs
Entry Fee: None
Amount of Grants: May be awarded for $100, $150 or $200
Deadline for Application: September 15 for consideration at MFMC Fall Meeting; April 15 for consideration at MFMC Spring Meeting
Application Requirements: A resume of education, teaching experience, and other pertinent information. Two letters of support/recommendation: one from a teaching colleague and one from another MFMC member. A letter that specifies the amount sought and explains how the applicant proposes to use the scholarship (such as to help fund private lessons or workshop, etc). When possible, printed matter describing the proposed course of study, such as brochure or college catalog.

Adult Composer's Critique
Category: Composition
Age Limit: 18 and over. Amateur and first time composers encouraged to apply
Entry Fee: $25.00 first 2 pages, $5.00 each additional page
Critique: Composers have their music critiqued by a qualified, established composer and/ or composition professor
Application Deadline: Compositions received between April 1 and
April 15
Application requirements: Completed application, compositions must be non-published, original works, compositions may be single pieces, or group of related pieces, composers may submit one composition per person per year, a work may be submitted once, not year after year, composition may be hand written or computer generated, a photocopy of the composition may be submitted so the composer may retain the original, a cassette tape or CD recording of the composition is required.
Award: $100.00 Virginia Kendrick Composition Award is given at the discretion of the Judge and Executive Committee

MFMC State Student Auditions (Even Years Only)
Category: Piano, Organ, Strings, Man's Voice, Women's Voice, Brass, Winds, Percussion
Age limit: Students must be between the ages of 16 through 25 (birthday in year of audition)
Entry Fee: $15.00 entry fee must accompany application
Application/Audition Deadlines: December date is deadline for application and entry fee sent to Sheila Shusterich, Chairman. CDs and certification form must be sent to Classification Chairman postmarked date in January. (See application for details)
Award: Monetary award increases will have been voted on in

Application/Audition requirements: Completed MFMC application and entry fee. The auditions will be conducted entirely by CD. Each entrant must be prepared to perform one selection from three of the following categories: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary. One of the selections must be written by an American Composer.
All selections must be memorized, with the exception of Brass, Winds, Percussion and Organ. Arrange for an accompanist, if necessary, and assume expense. Adhere to time limits for the recording. The CD may contain no more than 15 minutes of music. Include a list of repertoire and the approximate length of each selection with the CD. General musicianship and apparent potential are points of adjudication. No winner will be declared in a classification unless the highest tandards of performance are met. The decision of the judge(s) is final.

Junior Composer Institute Scholarship
Junior Composer Institute is held every July in Minnesota in the Minneapolis/ St. Paul area. Composition training is available for motivated students and the objective is to provide encouragement and stimulating instruction, motivating students to be creative.

Age limit: open to students ages 14 through 18
Scholarship application deadline: April 15 (Click here for application)
Amount of scholarship: $300.00
Requirements for scholarship: The student must have participated in the Minnesota Federation of Music clubs Junior Composers Contest in January of the year of scholarship award. and must be a first or second place winner in Levels 3 or 4. In the event that one of these four winners declines the scholarship, written applications from other non-winning Minnesota Federation of Music Clubs Junior Composer entrants in Levels 3 or 4 will be considered. Students must be a junior member of the NFMC in good standing.

International Music Camp/Summer Scholarships
Category: Music Camp for pianists, vocalists, band and orchestral instrumentalists
About International Music Camp: The Minnesota Federation of Music Clubs annually offers scholarships to attend the International Music Camp. IMC is located in the picturesque International Peace Gardens which straddle the border between North Dakota and Manitoba. Recipients of these scholarships receive a week of concentrated study at the Camp. (Campers are responsible for transportation arrangements and costs and for items of a personal nature).This summer school of fine arts is considered one of the best and is staffed by only highly skilled artist-educators. Campers from previous years report that each week-long session is filled with memorable instructional and performance opportunities, plus plentiful summertime recreation and chances to make new friends. Previous scholarship winners have often written most enthusiastically of their experiences at IMC.
Age Limit: in grade 9-12 at the time the application is submitted
Application deadline: no later than April 15
Amount of Scholarship: Complete Basic Camp Fee (not including private lessons, transportation, or personal expenses)
Requirements: Completed application, receive a Superior rating in the Festival of the year of application, (3) complete an application, (4) include two letters of recommendation; one from the applicant's present music teacher in the desired area of study, and (5) include an audio tape/or CD of the applicant performing two scales and two selections of his/her choice.
