Parade of American Music

The Parade of American Music continues to be the biggest event in the American Music Division on a national level. Each November dozens of federated music clubs across the nation promote American music in a myriad of unusual styles. There are club programs, radio, TV and newspaper coverage, signed proclamations by governors and mayors, community and school programs, library displays, recitals, and more. All this focuses on American music and features American musicians.

Last year Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty proclaimed November as American Music Month. Plans are underway for a repeat of that action this year. Each senior federated club is encouraged to participate in American Music Month by sponsoring a program about some aspect of American music (for example, an American composer, performer, musical genre) , asking their mayor to make proclamation of November as American Music Month, issuing a press release to local media regarding American music or assisting their public or school libraries in creating displays centered around American music.
